The latest Hope 66 training weekend was hosted by Gareth Mobley of Solidor. It entailed a 66 mile day on Saturday the 16th March and a shorter 38 mile day on Sunday 17th March. All in the Staffordshire, Shropshire countryside.
The weekend was not particularly kind to the team with rain, wind and even a touch of snow all putting in an appearance. temperatures hovered between 2 and 6 degrees, but it did feel much colder than that.
Gareth’s route gave opportunity for the riders to practice their climbing skills with over 4,000 ft. of climbing on the Saturday alone. Sunday, whilst kinder, was still
1, 862 ft. of climbing over a shorter distance. Morty, as always, struggled with this terrain and moaned all day about it !
Mathew Glover again struggled to satisfy his Vegan diet and eventually gave in to a chip butty (without the butter of course)
All in all a very worthwhile weekend where the team put another 104 miles or so into their legs.
Some warm weather training in Mallorca cannot come quickly enough
